I stumbled across this film via a Facebook post and watched it during lunch and on the bus home from work (it’s only 37 minutes long). It provides interesting insight into the birding on either side of the US/Mexico border, an area I knew very little about. A bonus is the wonderful cinematography (in particular the incredible raptor scenes). It’s a niche topic but I highly recommend the film.

Photographs from our Peel Zoo Visit
Dingo
I saw my first Dingo yesterday – it was feeding on a kangaroo carcass on the side of the road between Tom Price and Paraburdoo. I didn’t get any photographs, we were keen to make sure we didn’t miss the plane home.
I also saw a fair few cows near the junction of the Rail Access Road and the road to the Brockman mine site (where I went for work). A lot of the mines in the Pilbara are on/near functional cattle stations. There has been plenty of rain recently so the cows looked in very good condition.
Frog season has started in Dampier
Saw my first frog of the season on Saturday, peaking up at me from the drain in the sink in my room. It was a Desert Tree Frog (Litoria rubella), similar to this.
Short-beaked Echidna (Photographed)
Short-beaked Echidna
I saw a Short-beaked Echidna on the road to East Intercourse Island in Dampier yesterday. I slowed down and made sure the oncoming truck saw it as well. It was larger than I expected and walked across the road quite quickly. For those that don’t know this is the animal that is on the Australian 5c coin. No photos unfortunately.
